NOBEL PRIZE AWARDS
FROM CONCERT HALL TO CITY HALL — SWEDISH GRACE AND THE NOBEL PRIZE CONNECTIONS
Swedish Grace’s architecture is in the spotlight each year as it is closely linked to one of Sweden’s most celebrated events: the Nobel Prize Awards and its prestigious award ceremony. Two iconic landmarks are at the center of events each December 10th—Koncerthuset and Stadshuset. First, Koncerthuset hosts prize awards ceremony. Later, Stockholm City Hall complements the festivities, hosting the lavish Nobel Banquet to celebrate the laureates. Explore how these famous buildings embody the spirit of Swedish Grace, along which other places and events connected to the Nobel Prize.

STOCKHOLM CONCERT HALL
The prestigious venue for the Nobel Prize awards ceremony. The Nobel Prize awards ceremony recognizes achievements in various fields, including literature, chemistry, physics and medicine.Since 1926, the building has exemplified the Swedish Grace architecture. Designed by architect Ivar Tengbom, Konserthuset features a neoclassical style that reflects the Swedish Grace period. Its elegant interior design make it a standout example of Swedish Grace style. Each year, for the Nobel ceremony, the Main Hall is transformed with textiles and floral arrangements (including flowers from San Remo) as per Alfred Nobel’s wishes. The Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra performs from a specially constructed stage, with a statue of Alfred Nobel as the focal point.
